Ladies, it’s time to step into the spotlight and become the leading lady in your own life. No more playing supporting roles – the time has come to claim center stage and own your story.
I was recently inspired by a comment from my new friend Karen Geiger, who said “It’s our time to be the main character. Have protagonist energy and watch our arc change.” Amen to that! This idea of leading lady energy has always been important to me, but it resonated in a new way after my reflective year in 2024.

You see, I found myself feeling more like I was in the “chorus” or “atmosphere” of life, rather than the shining star. Between my mother’s health scare and some other personal challenges, my own leading lady energy had ebbed. But I’m done with that – it’s time to reclaim my spotlight.
Reconnecting with Your Inner Child
A big part of stepping into that leading lady role is reconnecting with the younger version of myself – the girl who had that natural confidence and light. I was recently going through old photos with my mom, and I found this amazing picture of me wearing a Grease t-shirt and roller skates.
That photo represented such freedom and self-expression. It was that preteen version of me who truly felt like the main character before society started throwing all those negative messages our way. We all have an experience like that—a time when we knew, without a doubt, that we were the stars of our own story.
It’s time to go back and shower that young girl with love. Unpacking the experiences that may have dimmed her light and consciously working to shed those limiting beliefs. Because the truth is, we would never talk to our own children or best friends the way we speak to ourselves. It’s time for some serious self-compassion.
Shedding the Negative Narratives
Throughout our lives, people and circumstances can chip away at our self-confidence and leading lady energy. I know this firsthand – I distinctly remember a time when my bubbly, outgoing personality as a child wasn’t okay with my dad. That experience of feeling like he didn’t approve of me started to tamper down my light.
Whether it was a teacher, an ex-partner, or a cruel comment from a peer, we’ve all had those moments that made us doubt ourselves. But I’m here to tell you – it’s not your fault. These experiences are universal, and the key is to consciously shed those negative narratives.
I’ve done a lot of work in therapy over the years to unpack my own childhood experiences and reclaim my power. It wasn’t easy, but it was so necessary. Now, I’m able to look back with compassion, knowing that I got the exact parents I needed to do the work I’m meant to do in this world.
Embracing the Spotlight
As I think about stepping into that leading lady energy, I can’t help but draw parallels to some of my favorite movies. Films like Moonstruck and Working Girl are full of powerful female characters who own their stories.
I love the iconic line from Working Girl, where Melanie Griffith’s character declares, “I am, after all, me.” That’s the kind of unapologetic confidence I want us all to channel. It’s time to stop worrying about being the “Rhoda” and fully embrace our “Mary Tyler Moore” energy.
Everything is temporary, as they say in Moonstruck. So why not go for it? Why not step into the spotlight and become the leading lady in your own life? You are, after all, you – and that is more than enough.
Building a Supportive Community
As I look ahead, I’m focused on creating more opportunities for us to come together and uplift each other. That’s why I’m doing my first-ever listener survey – I want your feedback so I can shape the future of this podcast and plan events that truly serve you.
I know that meeting new friends later in life can be tough, but I truly believe the key is getting out of your comfort zone and surrounding yourself with that leading lady energy. That’s why I’m excited to highlight events from other amazing women, from a stress and anxiety workshop to a wealth-building summit.
Come to these events, get on my newsletter list, and let’s start 2025 as a year of gathering, supporting, and loving on each other. Because the truth is, we’re all in this together. And when we come together to celebrate and empower one another, there’s no limit to what we can achieve.
So, are you ready to become the leading lady in your own life? It’s time to shed what’s holding you back, reconnect with your inner child, and step into the spotlight. The stage is yours, beautiful. Let’s do this.
